Darlings, we’re working on another big costume design post for later today, which is good, because the red carpet pickin’s this week are, as expected, pretty dire. But we couldn’t leave you all without some hot red carpetry to discuss and thankfully, Miss Tracee was kind enough to step out in some highly … discussable looks for the Paris shows.
Tracee Ellis Ross at the Chanel Couture Show
Imagine getting an invite to sit front row at Chanel. Then imagine being told you have to wear this. Granted, she’s not much of a tweed-suit kind of gal and, given her style history, there’s no reason to believe she didn’t wholeheartedly choose this ensemble herself, but still. Talk about a missed opportunity. Who thinks “Chanel” and pictures a massive gold skirt with cargo pockets? We wish we could say her innate fabulosity was helping her to pull this off, but most of these items are a little on the ugly side and some of them don’t belong together at all. The top and the bag need to go. Actually, it all needs to go, but we’re trying to be kind here.

This is a little better, if only because the earrings look amazing on her. We don’t mind the gown, but the neckline is way too wide and plunging for our tastes. And the black boots are so terribly wrong for it that they’re making our eyelids twitch in fury. A pair of gold flat sandals would’ve been perfect here.
