San Diego Comic-Con 2018: “Wonder Woman 1984” Stars Gal Gadot and Chris Pine Wow the Crowds

Posted on July 23, 2018

The cutest fake couple in Nerdville came out to soak up a little praise, tease a little bit of their future together, and model a couple of moderately cute (if maybe a tad questionable) ensembles.

Miss Gal’s got a knack for wearing simply shaped dresses in primary colors with one eye-grabbing detail that either makes the look or ruins it. It’s kind of her thing. Despite our long history of being anti-fringe, we’re not entirely opposed to what’s going on at the hem. A venue like this asks for a look that has a little punch to it, whether that punch is strictly visual or a little kinetic in nature. In other words, a little swing and sway is fine idea. Our only real issue is with the asymmetrical hem, but we’re trying to see that as a take on the W motif in the costumes of the first film. That’s stretching it, we know.

And speaking of stretching it, here’s King Sherbet, giving us all a show:

We’ve spent a good deal of time and several tens of thousands of words bemoaning Chris’s tendency to dress quite a bit older than his age, but to our surprise, he can work the “retired Palm Springs hairstylist” look much better than we could’ve predicted. Work those espadrilles, sir!
