BATTLE OF THE BLONDES!
Darlings, could things have shaken out any other way this week, when these two ladies worked that promo tour for all it was worth? Even we were a bit caught off guard by the vehemence of their poledance and all the many lewks they each paraded out in front of cameras all week long. But both of them brought their A games to the London premiere, even if one of these looks is here because a certain person changed their mind.
T’s Pick: Amanda Seyfried in Alexander McQueen at the “Mamma Mia! Here We Go Again” London Premiere.
T’s Defense: The word that comes to mind is “spectacular.” It has a stronger feel to it than “fabulous,” which is why it’s so well suited to this look, which strikes me as uncommonly strong for Amanda, whose style choices tend to be fairly safe overall. This is a total head-turner; dramatic, chic, and surprising coming from her corner. I’m not kidding when I say it’s the best thing she’s ever worn on a red carpet. And this gal’s been to Met Galas and Oscars ceremonies.
Lo’s Pick: Lily James in Oscar de la Renta at the “Mamma Mia! Here We Go Again” London Premiere.
Lo’s Defense: I know we put this up to a vote earlier in the week, but the more I looked at it – because I kept coming back to look at it, which should tell you something – the more I realized how much I really love it. It’s got this sort of post-modern Marie Antoinette feeling, as if her iconography had been boiled down to toile, a big skirt, and satin ribbons. I know opinions were mixed on it, but I’m taking a stand and submitting it for consideration as best of the week. It’s romantic but modern in a slightly witty sense. She looks great in it.
There you have it, kittens. Two very different looks from two fairly similar ladies. Will you go for strong and declarative or wittily romantic and fresh? Don’t forget to argue with each other in the comments section after you vote!
