Meghan Markle Rediscovers the Rainbow

Prince Harry and Meghan, Duchess of Sussex attend the  Your Commonwealth Youth Challenge Reception.

OH THANK GOD. MEGS HAS FOUND COLOR AGAIN.

You guys, we were starting to get a bit worried. There are only so many ways one can write about minimalist dresses in neutral colors before you start sounding really whiny and repetitive. Fortunately for us, the good Duchess appears to have gotten over her beige phase. For now, at least.

Granted, there’s not a whole hell of a lot to talk about here other than the color, since the dress is as basic as a dress gets and the shoes are a borrowed pair from sis-in-law Cathy. Not really, but such sentiments tend to get the Anglophiles all wired up and ready to defend the honor of some of the wealthiest people in the world, which makes it catnip to little stinkers like us. Why else do you think we’d insist on calling them Cathy and Megs?

Anyway, this is a very welcome sight to our tired, jaded blogger eyes, even if the style is the same old minimalism. It’s a day event, so it works just fine here.

We’ve read a few fashion writers suggesting that, as someone who used to be a blogger and influencer herself, she’s craftily “dressing for the slideshow.” In other words, knowing that fashion sites tend to put together galleries of one person’s looks, she chose to spend the first few months post-wedding sending out a consistently rendered image that practically begs to be included in a slideshow of images. We tend to be just a bit skeptical of the idea, but if she’s wearing anything in the yellow family the next time she steps out, we may have to reconsider.

Interesting that she’s wearing an American designer. We would have thought she’d avoid that for now.
