Friday Leftovers for the Week of July 8th, 2018

Posted on July 13, 2018

Kittens, it’s a sad little line-up of also-rans wearing mediocrities this week. It’s high summer and the stars just can’t be bothered right now. In a way, the following efforts should be celebrated for happening at all in this second week of July. But our duties compel us to judge them instead. Join us, won’t you?

Alia Shawkat

Hey, Tatiana Maslany! This is a little awkward but way cuter than what you wore to opening night. Plus it suits you now that you’re cosplaying as Alia Shawkat full time!

Betty Gilpin

You’d never now she tears up season two of GLOW as a big-haired lady wrestler with a penchant for Tammy Faye-style crying jags. Enh. We’re not feeling the need to be bitches when this isn’t a big fashion event. She’s fine with a low-key style. But we stan for Liberty Belle.

Elizabeth Banks

As much as week saying the ladytux is played out, we can’t deny it still works. The sandals are a nice way to pump up the look a little.

Gillian Jacobs

Really cute dress. We love the shoes too but they seem a little severe for it.

Greta Gerwig

When we said this wasn’t a big fashion event, we weren’t shitting you, kittens.

Jane Krakowski

We love this lady and we salute her commitment to never half-assing her promo style, but we have to say it: she’s in a rut and in serious need of some freshening up. If Celine Dion can do it, you can do it, girl.

Joaquin Phoenix

The boots are stupid.

Kat Graham

We guess we have to accept that pointy-toed pumps are a thing you pair with sexy summer dresses. Or it is this week, at least. This is fine except for the design of the bust, which is really silly.

Kat Graham in Ester Abner

The entire bottom half of this look is the wrong way to set off the top half. Everything below the waist is suitable for a 75-year-old.

Liv Tyler

It gets the job done for where she is.

Melissa Benoist

Ditto – although we think the bottom half is chic and unexpectedly cute. We like that her non-Supergirl style tends to get far away from girly and sassy looks.

Nina Dobrev in Altuzarra

The dress is pretty enough in a generic sort of way, but those shoes are kind of awful.

Olga Kurylenko, Antonio Banderas and Paz Vega

Antonio and Paz are doing okay, but Olga’s dress is hurting our eyes and feelings.

Samira Wiley in Cushnie et Ochs

A look that comes off elegant, polished and just glam enough for the task at hand. The color looks great on her and the gold sandals are a nice touch.
