Translating the Runway Trends for Fall 2018: It’s All About WILD REDS

Posted on July 18, 2018

Kittens! The world outside all our doors is scary and tense and aggravating! We don’t think you need to be told what that means. We are all long past time for a little trend-based retail therapy, courtesy of everyone’s favorite opinionated and stylish personal shopper, Lorenzo. He scoured the fall runway collections to suss out some trends that feel a little fresh, because fall is one of those seasons that tend to remain locked into specific styles and color stories.

But that’s not necessarily so with this year’s seasonal offerings. While autumnal tones of red, crimson, and orange are perennial faves, this year’s red tones were decidedly WILDER:

Adam Selman | Alexander Wang | Balenciaga | Carolina Herrera | Christian Siriano
Claudia Li | Cushnie et Ochs | Dolce&Gabbana | Emilio de la Morena | Giorgio Armani
Hellessy | Jason Wu | Marc Jacobs | Marni | Marta Jakubowski
Matthew Adams Dolan | Milly | Moschino | Oscar de la Renta | Poiret
Prabal Gurung | Prada | Tory Burch | Ulla Johnson | Valentino

As you can see, the reds were all over the map for this season’s runways, from deep crimson to bold magentas and even a healthy smattering of basic pinks. Don’t feel you need to look like a pumpkin to enjoy your pumpkin spiced latte this fall, kittens. .

As always, the point to these posts is to show how the rarefied and sometimes completely unrealistic world of the runway can offer some guidance to the real-world wardrobe needs of your average gal, whether she needs a new dress for a party, a new sweater for the chilly weather, or a new pair of sassy pants to show off her t-shirt collection a little better. You don’t have to look like a runway model to stay on trend for the season. You just have to look at the broader strokes and translate them to your own needs.

Now let’s get you WILDed up. First stop:

Bathe yourself in all that wild freshness. Don’t you feel all energized and ready to face the shorter days already? As you can see, Lo is all over the place, trying to offer as wide a range of styles and price points as his own snooty tastes would allow. We think the results speak for themselves, because there are some seriously cute pieces here, from the bold little sweaters to the richly colored blouses and the fun, bright pants. What’s great about this color story is that it will pair really well with your more autumnal browns and oranges.

But if you’d just like to add some pops of wildness to your fall wardrobe rotation, then you should definitely check out Lo’s picks for …

There are FAR TOO MANY adorable shoes and bags in the above collection for Lo to single any one or two out as his faves. We are loving all the pink and magenta shoe options for fall, which make a great way to brighten up darker ensembles or add some contrasting to pop to more traditional fall color schemes.

So how about it, trend-minded and trend-clueless gals? Feeling like getting a little wild this fall?
