Danielle Brooks at the “BlacKkKlansman” New York Premiere

Miss Danielle is here to brighten your day – but don’t worry, kittens. We haven’t abandoned our “Looking at Cute Guys as a Form of Self-Care” summer content theme. There will be several iterations in the coming hours. We just thought we’d mix things up here for two reasons. The first is because we think this has possibilities:

The details are all a little problematic, but the basic style could be pretty cute. The first issue is that very little of this looks high-end. This wasn’t a gowns-and-diamonds sort of premiere, to be fair. And she’s been open – as so many plus-sized ladystars have been – about how little support she gets from the fashion industry in terms of loaners. But that doesn’t mean she can’t secure a decent cami or t-shirt for herself. And while the rough hem of the jeans are on-trend, we don’t think it photographs well with the rest of the look. But we love the idea of her in a colorful dressing gown over jeans. It’s just that almost none of these pieces come off photogenic enough for a premiere and they don’t do much to set each other off.

The other reason we’re featuring her is to ask: Is anyone else finding the new season of Orange is the New Black to be a total chore to get through? The show dropped on Friday and we’re only halfway through episode five on Tuesday. For us, that’s a terrible sign. We used to have the whole thing binged by Sunday night. We intend on doing a review, but this may take a while.
