Amanda Seyfried and Lily James at the “Mamma Mia! Here We Go Again” Germany Photocall

Posted on July 13, 2018

Listen, we are committed to our public promise not to see this movie, which looks fairly awful. But if any kittens out there are planning on smuggling a box of wine into the theater with the best gals and gays to make a night of it, we’d love it if you could report back on the status of Meryl. Because her total absence from the poledance is weird. We realize there’s some question as to whether she’s even alive in the sequel, but we thought it was a given she makes some sort of appearance.

Anyway, these two are doing their best to wear some really discussable looks so we figure the least we could do is discuss them.

Y’know? We’re liking those crazypants the longer we look at them. There’s definitely an issue with the way they essentially erase her waist, but tightening that belt would go a long way toward mitigating that issue. We don’t know… the proportions are fun, photogenic and really work for the setting. We think there were more interesting options for the top and the footwear, but we can understand wanting to go generic and letting the pants have the spotlight. It’s not perfect, but it’s not boring.

Having gotten her sexpot on for the premiere, she’s returned to the Keira Knightley cosplay she tends to prefer. And why not? She looks great in romantic styles. This strikes us as a bit too conservative for a film like this one, which isn’t some sort of teacup drama or restrained English romance. She can afford to loosen up just a little. On the other hand, we can’t fault a lady who knows what works for her.
