You guys are going to think we’re nuts for saying this once you get the whole picture, but we’ll take this look over any of the other half-assed or badly put-together ensembles she’s been sporting this week.
Now hear us out. We know this is cray. We know it could even be considered flat-out hideous. But we’ll take an over-intellectualized Thom Browne jawn for her over some badly rendered attempts at Boho styles that didn’t suit her or didn’t come together well. Like her lady Janelle, she’s got a huge knack for working these sorts of avant-garde, intellectual takes on fashion. It simply suits her better than maribou feather slippers or belly cutouts. It’s not that we LOVE this outfit, although we do admire the design for boldness and for making juxtapositions of business-wear and foundation garment motifs that are heavily laden with meaning if you feel like exploring them, as in so much of Browne’s work. It’s because of that deeper, more boundary-pushing, more motif-laden approach that it strikes us as so much more right for her than a bunch of mismatched items or a look that just doesn’t suit her.
