Style File: Amy Adams Continues the “Sharp Objects” Poledance, Changing Costumes Along the Way

Posted on June 29, 2018

Miss Amy’s out there, doing the damn work. And as we noted with her red carpet look the other day, it seems to us that she’s in the midst of a concerted efforted to switch up her style game, which had been stuck in a jewel-toned sheath rut for many years. Our highly cultivated red carpet-reading skills indicate to us that Miss Lady is gunning for the big awards; not just now, but for this next phase of her career in total. She’s stepping it up.

That does not, however, mean that she’s getting it right each time.

But she definitely got this one right. Don’t worry. We still found things to bitch about. For one, it feels kind of heavy and autumnal for June. The neckline isn’t friendly to her and the fit through the bodice looks a little off. And we think the look would be even more freshened up if she’d done something a little different with her hair. Since she’s had this style for basically her entire career, we imagine changing it up now would be the hardest thing to convince her to do. Instead, she got talked into puffy shoulders and an uncharacteristic floral in a color story she doesn’t always favor. It’s enough. .

Yikes. This, on the other hand, needs to be set aflame. Go home, take it all off, and toss it in your fire pit, Amy. Let us never speak of any of it again.

Keep the jewelry, though. It’s cute.
