A bunch of A-list fashion ladies came out for designer Virgil Abloh’s debut for Louis Vuitton’s men’s line, offering us more than the usual menswear show front row fare to discuss. Ladies? Step forward and present yourself to the committee, please.
The style brief was decidedly casual, which isn’t entirely unusual for menswear shows, but was especially on-point for this particular one. We’ll give her some credit for trying to work what was handed to her, but the top and the shorts don’t even look like they go together, the pumps don’t fit her and look a little cheap, and that fanny pack situation is tragique.
All things considered, this almost works for her. It’s a nice change of pace to see her talked into some volume and color, even if she does have a bunch of toiletry bags hanging off her.
Leave it to Ri to make it work. Almost. It could use a major hem job, the fanny pack is still dumb and the bag is probably even dumber, but rendering it all in white and topping it off with killer shades does a lot to make it look cooler than it actually is.
One of these things is not like the others. Although in Miss Rita’s case, it’s probably to her benefit that she didn’t get shoved into some weird jumpsuit or romper. It pains us to see this as an acceptable front row ensemble for a Paris fashion show, but it’s not like the other gals were showing up in Chanel suits. In another setting, we’d consider this a perfectly fine, if slightly stale look.
