As you may have heard us whine a time or two this week, we’ve hit the summer wall on celebrity red carpetry; that annual dry spell that hits right around Independence Day when the performing set take a collective break from the poledance, leaving behind a mere handful of diehards and stragglers.
Leftovers, that’s your cue:
Credit where it’s due: this is pretty great. A little tight, but the color is fantastic and the styling is impeccable.
Bella Hadid in Versace
Colton Haynes in Paul Smith
Love this boy and his commitment to colorful high fashion. He looks really cute. Summer chic and fresh.
It’s okay, but between this and the outfit she wore to the Sharp Objects premiere, it looks to us like the lady could use some help in navigating modern red carpetry.
Eva Green in Alexandre Vauthier
On the one hand, it’s crazy to be wearing a high-collared, long-sleeved velvet gown in late June. On the other hand, this one could not be more perfect for her. LOVE the pendant.
It’s okay, but she keeps sporting these silhouettes that don’t really do much for her. Cliche it may be, but she’s better off in a pencil skirt or something with a little more flare.
Jennifer Morrison in Zimmermann
Grandma’s bedroom curtains.
Another dress that feels a bit dark and heavy for this time of year, but we can’t deny that it’s dramatic and the colors look great on her. Not feeling the makeup bag, though.
Judy Greer in Peter Pilotto
You had until we got to the hem, dear. And it took a struggle for us to accept that much. But she’s got a certain Vera Farmiga-esque quality that allows her to work something with a little retro goofiness to it.
Kitty Spencer in Dolce&Gabbana
It’s vaguely bridal in tone, but what really bugs is the bust ruffle. Take that away and you’d have a cute summer gown.
La La Anthony in Greta Constantine
We’ve been seeing a lot of really colorful satin-y looks lately and we can’t say we’re loving the trend. This is ’80s Dynasty drag, which sounds a bit more fabulous than this frock deserves.
Michael Douglas and Cameron Douglas
Oof. That is a whole lotta douchery to take in at once. We may need to lie down for a moment.
Lady we love you, but a black tuxedo-style jacket with navy blue pants is just so wrong.
She’s clearly not reinventing the wheel, nor should she be expected to. This is simply elegant and stylish in a way she prefers and also happens to look pretty good in pictures. The bag’s a bit over-sized for the occasion, though.
Such is the power of the Serena that she can make an acid-washed denim overalls dress with chains for straps actually look pretty good.
Please, Mr. Jesus. Send us some high fashion to discuss next week.
