It’s a real shame A Wrinkle in Time didn’t do better in theaters, but it almost seems like Miss Storm doesn’t care, because she keeps quietly stepping out in thematically appropriate looks that combine fantasy with high-fashion, as if the promo tour for this film never truly ended for her. In a way, it’s amazingly good branding; a way of saying, “Hey, I’m that girl from that fantasy sci-fi movie you might have forgotten about.”
We’re not a hundred percent sure about the skirt, but the overall look is incredibly charming and on point for her. With the Bantu knots, it represents another example of how actresses like her and Lupita Nyong’o are using black and African hair styles combined with sweetly romantic clothing choices in order to redefine what a Disney Princess or Fantasy Queen is supposed to look like.
Also: Milly Bobbie Brown’s team should take some serious notes here. This is how you combine high-fashion with a young girl’s sensibilities and not come off precocious.
