When you’re a stylish lady whose name sort of rhymes with “man thataway;” when you have a reputation to maintain and a spotlight to grab; when you know you’ll be splitting that spotlight time with some of the most stylish ladies who also have the most impeccable reputations to maintain, your years of training and success in these matters are inevitably going to lead you to one conclusion:
GO BIG OR GO HOME, GIRLS.
Like her co-star Rihanna, Miss Annie opted to elbow out a little extra space for herself on this red carpet by wearing something voluminous and uniquely eye-catching. We’re thrilled to see a Gaultier on the red carpet. He can be difficult to wear and a little too out-there for most conventional Hollywood red carpets, but Anne gets loads of respect from us for making the choice. This isn’t just big. It’s bold and unique too, which makes it all the more worthy for praise.
There is, however, also this:
“I just wanted to be able to enjoy my summer and let everybody know that I’m living in my body and I’m happy with my body…. And if my body is different than what you’re used to, or what you think it should be, that’s yours. And my experience is mine and I’m loving it.”
Girl, you do you, but we truly hope you don’t feel like you have to hide yourself away in tents. If that’s what makes you comfortable and confident, so be it. And as we said, the results here are pretty spectacular. But it’s hard not to see her in such an uncharacteristically large silhouette days after she mentioned she was body-shamed. Then again, by choosing such an outrageously large and graphic dress, maybe she’s just sending a defiant message about it. We suppose it could be taken either way. The important thing, from a wholly shallow perspective (which we’re all about ’round these parts), is that she looks amazing.
