Once again, we are consumed with jealousy by the amount of high-end merch a bunch of teen stars get to wear when it’s clear that God intended it to be gifted to bitchy fashion bloggers.

Of course we can only maintain this fit of pique by pretending we could ever have a chance of making some of these items work. One of the things we have to give these kids and their style teams credit for is finding high-end pieces that nonetheless look great and non-precocious on kids. We love this look, but it takes someone born a lifetime after the last time it was in style (roughly about the time Sonny started dating Cher) to make it work. Everything here is perfect for him.
Noah Schnapp in Saint Laurent
Having said that, a sheer shirt under a Saint Laurent dinner jacket is perhaps a bit on the precocious side for a 13-year-old. He’d have been much better off in a t-shirt, even if one of his co-stars worked that look fairly effectively herself…
Sadie Sink in Gucci
Personally, we think the pink pumps were a bad choice. The jacket is providing enough “high” in the whole high-low thing. A cool pair of kicks or boots would’ve been our first recommendation. If not those, then probably a darker, less girly or sparkly sort of pump or sandal. Still, she looks pretty ridiculously fabulous. It’s the kind of look a lot of adults attempt, but has a special sort of magic when a stylish teenager pulls it off. No one can do insouciance like a teen girl, and that’s the number one quality this look requires. Plus the jacket looks amazing with her hair.
It’s entirely possible that everything here is part of some ridiculously expensive high-level fashion line and he’s just awash in luxury brand labels. We tend to think most of this is pretty low-key and just Gaten’s style. We don’t mind a kid at the MTV Awards going this casual, but we certainly hope he’s getting the same high-end brand options for the red carpet that his co-stars seem to enjoy. Either way, this is all perfectly fine.
