Miss Zazie, we salute you. It takes a special sort of dress to get us to drop our Cannes red carpet coverage for a moment. But can you blame us, kittens? Just LOOK at this frock:
This is not a quiet dress; not a dress for shy, reticent types or for keeping your opinions to yourself. This dress is LOUD and it DEMANDS your attention. Despite the wall of flowers, it is the opposite of a wallflower dress. We really like the style and shape of it, but the floral pattern tends to overwhelm just a bit. It’s not so much the scale of the floral as it is the color story. We think editing out a couple of the colors would be to the design’s benefit. The mint-greens and pinks and fuchsias don’t marry well with the black and goldenrods. And the various weights of the fabrics tend to make it all feel a little overwrought.
But we can’t help appreciating it as a way for a rising starlet to grab the spotlight and force it on herself. The hair is just right for it. The lips? Not so much.
