“This Is Us” FYC Screening and Panel Red Carpet Rundown

Posted on May 30, 2018

Y’know, it would really cause a sensation if they got the cast of “This is Us” to sing a rousing rendition of “This is Me,” especially if they were at, like, an Us Weekly party or something.

Anyway, sometimes you run out of pithy introductions for these things and you just dump the contents of your head onto the keyboard to see what happens.

Chrissy Metz

It’s a pretty cute look overall and has a bit more personality to it than a lot of her outfits. We love the juxtaposition of denim and polka dots. Love the idea of something bright and colorful in the way of jewelry, but we’re not sure those earrings are doing anything to elevate the look. And if we could edit one thing out of this look, it would be the skirt ruffle. With the ruffle and the short jacket, the proportions could be improved a little. A to-the-floor maxi sans ruffle would look great.

Come on, buddy. Stop showing up at these things dressed like you work in the network’s accounting department. We’re not asking for rockstar chic or anything, but loosen it the hell up just a little. You chose to be an actor and now it’s paid off and you’re on a huge hit. Dress like it.

Mandy Moore in Stella McCartney

Enh. We’ll give this one to her. A leopard jumpsuit is a cliche at this point and this one does nothing to offer any sort of freshness to it, plus the print’s muddy as hell, but she’s worn some fairly disastrous stuff on the red carpet and this doesn’t even rise to the level of “problematic” It’s okay, but not great. The wide plunging neckline seems like it doesn’t quite belong on this garment.

Come on, buddy. Stop showing up at these things dressed like you work in the network’s construction department. We’re not asking for runway chic or anything, but bump it the hell up just a little. You chose to be an actor and now it’s paid off and you’re on a huge hit. Dress like it.

Susan Kelechi Watson

Oof That is entirely too much modesty panel on a gauzy, plunging top. So much that we have to suggest that perhaps the gauzy plunging top is poorly designed and/or not the type of top for her if it/she requires that much pantyhose material to hold things together, so to speak. Aside from that, the design looks unresolved, as if the skirt and the top were pinned on a dress form, waiting for finishing. It’s just not a good dress.

Boy, the collective stylishness of this cast goes way down when Sterling K. Brown doesn’t show up.
