One thing you’ve gotta give Miss Sarah Jessica credit for is her unwavering commitment to hitting the Met Gala red carpet every year in something jaw-dropping. She doesn’t tend to get the kind of attention your Ris and Beys and Kims and Katys tend to get, but year in and year out, she’s there, always wearing one of the most outrageous looks of the night.
Some folks danced around the theme of Catholic iconography, choosing to interpret it lightly or simply to dress up like a religious figure, but for Sarah Jessica, that’s the amateur’s way out. Anyone can put on a halo and call themselves a saint, but it takes a true fashion warrior to dress up like an entire side altar in a cathedral:
Mind you, this is all fairly hideous. But it’s hideously FABULOUS, which is a concept that makes total sense at the Met Gala.
We don’t love this on its own, but that doesn’t mean she isn’t doing it right.
