Met Gala 2018 Red Carpet Rundown: The Basics Have Arrived – Part Two

Posted on May 09, 2018

Time to wrap this rascal up, wouldn’t you say? Line up for judgment, normies! YA BASIC.

Amber Valetta in Saint Laurent

Yawn.

Ashley Graham in Prabal Gurung

We don’t know… she’s not the only gal to rest on a metallic, but the way she’s pretty much bronzed to match the dress makes for such a blandly dull kind of look.

Dakota Fanning in Miu Miu

Seriously, there should be bouncers turning people away for showing up in boring shit. This is disgraceful, Missy.

Gabrielle Union in Prabal Gurung

It’s a gorgeous gown and that color looks amazing on her (not so much with the matchy sandals) but aside from the hue, this is as generic as it gets.

John Boyega in Michael Kors Collection

Sure. Fine. Whatever.

Kate Moss in Saint Laurent

The models are all wearing the most boring looks of the night.

Keri Russell (in Chanel) and Mathew Rhys

We suppose the proliferation of plain white dresses have something to with baptismal robes or something, but even so, there’s no need to be so boring about it. Step it up, people.

Kylie Jenner in Alexander Wang

Oh, WHATEVER.

Miley Cyrus in Stella McCartney

Miley, you’ve let us all down.

Just go, Miley. We can’t talk to you right now.

Nick Jonas in Dolce&Gabbana

Nicky Tryhard tried hard. And while the result is hilariously tight and a little boring, we can’t say we actually hate the look.

Princess Beatrice of York in Alberta Ferretti

Princess, please. No one invites a member of the royal family hoping she’ll show up looking like she’s in a cult.

Riley Keough in Louis Vuitton

A plain and vaguely ugly gown that someone thought could be boosted by a pair of huge leather gloves. They were wrong. It just looks goofy.

Rooney Mara in Givenchy Couture

This was a bit of a letdown, considering her propensity for weird, eye-popping fashion. It’s pretty, though. And it has a vaguely clerical feel to it. She just needed to step it up quite a bit more.

Tracee Ellis Ross in Michael Kors Collection

It pains us to include her on this list because first, she looks amazing and second, she’s serving up Diana Ross cosplay, which is not a thing we ever though we’d really see her attempt. But it just feels like such an odd and safe choice for a night like this; showing up all Dream Girls to the Met Gala.

Zoë Kravitz in Saint Laurent

It’s gonna take a bit more than a scrap of lace, dear.
