As always with Miss Lena, it’s the scrolldown that kills it. Brace yourselves.
While it seems a bit too heavy for this time of year, we were pretty okay with the dress. The colors look great on her and the pattern is fun without being overwhelming. This is likely to get us in some trouble, but because of the iridescent sheer, the silhouette and the clingy drapiness of the fabrics, we’re fairly sure a dress like this was designed to be worn with shapewear. It doesn’t mean she’s not allowed to wear it if she doesn’t feel like Spanxing it, but it does make a difference in how the dress presents.
Even so, that’s not the part where it fell apart for us. It’s that par-for-the-course wonky-ass hem and her usual pair of hideous, deliberately clashy shoes. Having covered her for years, we can see she has a real preference for drawing the eye as far away from her face as possible. We wouldn’t even try to analyze why, but it’s the number one reason why her style tends to look so off to people.
