Cannes 2018 Style File: Elizabeth Debicki in Miu Miu and Valentino Couture

Because Lo has a crush on her, and because she never fails to wear pretty dresses (hence Lo’s love for her), let’s check in on what Junior Blanchett has been doing at Cannes.

It’s pale, it’s sweeping, it’s lightly sparkly. In other words, it’s practically tailor-made to check off all her strong points. Not the most outrageously head-turning sort of gown you’ll see at Cannes, but it’s quietly pretty and subtly glamorous. And it found the right wearer in her. Body-skimming vertical lines can look amazing (as they do here) running the full length of a tall woman’s gown.

We don’t think we love the earrings, though. While we think something bold was the right idea, we’d have rec’d a lot more sparkle and a lot less of a dinner plate vibe.

To our utter glee, this has been the Cannes for bold florals. We hope the trend continues stateside throughout the summer. We can’t say we’re loving everything about this dress, though. She can work a squared-off neckline and floaty sleeves just fine. And as we mentioned, we’re loving the floral. But all of those unnecessary lines, kittens. They make us sad. It’s a dress that needs some serious design edits, we’re afraid. And we’re not crazy about the nude lining either.
