We think one of the more notable things about Miss Chloe’s Cannes style is how toned-down it is. While each of these looks aren’t lacking in personality, they’re not so brimming with it that it feels like she’s playing a new character or unveiling a new alter. We suppose that’s to be expected when you’ve got Chanel on your back, but Cannes is definitely not conservative in terms of the red carpetry. She could have gone much bolder than these choices.
On the other hand, we may be over-stating this slightly, because each of these looks feel very “her” in a lot of ways.

This has got the kind of simple glamour you might expect from Chanel at Cannes, while also sporting a weird detail that sets it apart. We can’t say we love the pleating, but it’s the one thing that makes the dress weird enough for the Sevigny. Still, we don’t love this look. It has a dingy quality that feels very unfabulous.

This is kind of cute and sassy in a Sevigny sort of way. It’s not lighting our world on fire, but it’s chic and sexy and French. Even if it’s not reaching the weird heights of some of her stateside ensembles of yore, it’s serving her well and it’s right for the venue. Maybe it’s not as quirky as we’d like, but if she’s feeling cute, we can’t argue with that.
