We didn’t realize Disney Disco Princess was even a thing until Miss Lupita showed us the way:
That woman knows how to make a dress sing an aria.
Normally we ding folks when they fuss with their clothes too much in front of cameras. A lot of the faux curtsying and self-conscious cuff-shooting tends to come off like someone uncomfortable in whatever they’re wearing. That couldn’t be less true for Miss Lupita, who loves beautiful clothes so much she can’t help indulging in them like a little girl playing dress-up.
The dress is very pretty and she finds the dramatic potential in it, but the design is as basic as it gets. That’s why the styling is so important here. We weren’t entirely sold on the eye shadow at first, but the more we consider it in combination with the hair and earrings, the more we realize it all works to make the dress look fresher and more dramatic.
