Isn’t it funny how French actresses always get the great-looking LV pieces and the American actresses wind up going out looking like crazy people in their LV pieces? We’re just saying. We sense a little favoritism. Michelle Williams and Jennifer Connelly, we got your backs on this one.

This is very ’80s, but pretty much perfect. In a way, we’re a bit surprised it doesn’t have some sort of goofy LV twist to it. We might have rec’d a metallic shoe just for some interest, but the dress is more than enough to hang the whole look on. It’s why her styling is so basic here. Who needs jewelry or even focus-pulling shoes when you already look like an ’80s music video vixen?

We only half-love this, and by that we mean that we love random parts of it that add up to about 50% of the whole. Her jewelry is fabulous. The neckline looks great on her. The shape is glamorous and chic. But we don’t love the hair, the makeup (the winged eye is just plain wrong for this style) or the composition-book-cover print, which is so very not fabulous. It just looks like static. Muddy, indistinct prints are bad for pictures because people wind up peering too much at them, trying to figure them out, rather than taking in the person who’s wearing them. It’s a strong look, but not a great one. Even so, it’s better than most of what Connelly and Williams have been spotted wearing on the red carpet.
