Darlings, we interrupt our ongoing and seemingly endless Met Gala coverage to dash on over to the Riviera for another, less cheek-sucking form of fabulosity – and to remind everyone that yes, Cannes is under way and we have a ton of internationally fabulous people to judge, all backed up in our judging pipeline.
But enough foreplay, behold the Lady Avengers:
Jury members Kristen Stewart, Léa Seydoux, Cate Blanchet, Ava DuVernay, and Khadja Nin attend the Jury photocall during the 2018 Cannes Film Festival at Palais des Festivals in Cannes, France.
There is entirely too much breezy French fabulousness going on here.
Kristen Stewart in Chanel and Ava DuVernay in Prada
It’s a nice change of pace to see Kristen in a Chanel that doesn’t fight too hard to look punk or hardass. It’s a lovely suit that doesn’t need gimmicky styling to look stylish and chic on her. We’re not feeling the tank top, but it’s very her. And the high-waisted pants call for something extremely simple, if the wearer insists on keeping the jacket undone.
Miss Ava simply looks gorgeous. What a great springtime dress. Love how the print fades out and breaks up near the bottom.
Léa Seydoux in Louis Vuitton
Sharp and classic suiting. Great color.
We just don’t love the trend of leaving the ties of a blouse undone. It’s not nearly as insouciant as it tries to come across.
Cate Blanchett in Stella McCartney
A surprisingly generic choice coming from Cate. It’s pretty, but any impact the look has is coming directly from the wearer, who knows how to pose. The one great thing about it is how well it coordinates with the other looks, including the other two pantsuits.
We find ourselves wishing she’d worn a jacket. Her outfit seems a little unfinished somehow. Still, she’s drawing all the focus in the pictures. Sometimes poise and the right accessory are all a lady needs to win the style game. Sorry, gals. You all look fabulous, but Miss Khadja owned you all the second she stepped out in that gele.
