Anna Faris Goes Barbie Basic at the “Overboard” Los Angeles Premiere

Posted on May 02, 2018

We suppose we could look at this kindly as some sort of homage to Goldie Hawn, although we’re finding it hard to parse any sort of connection. Try as we might to give it some extra hidden meaning, it’s just a pink sequined gown.

And of course we can ‘t say it looks bad on her. It’s just that it looks utterly generic and totally forgettable. And the shoes really don’t go at all. We get that she’s not a high-fashion kind of gal, but there are ways to do simple, pretty, low-key glam without being basic about it. We’re thinking a little cropped jacket, some killer earrings and a little more oomph in the hair and makeup would turn this look around.

Boy, that looks really terrible. The OG Overboard is a comedy classic that worked because of the off-the-chain chemistry of its stars. It probably can’t be effectively updated in the modern day, even if you switch the genders and diversify the cast. Too many disturbing aspects to the story for it to be passed off as a romantic comedy.
