We took one look at a thumbnail of this outfit and immediately filed it in the TMFO (To Make Fun Of) folder, which may or may not be a thing that exists on our desktops. But a funny thing happened when we gathered more shots and put this post together. We kind of fell in love with the look we were planning on shredding.
Now, she’s giving great picture here and the outfit looks pretty great, but in fairness, we should note that we first saw it while she was standing and it gives a decidedly different impression:
Those are some seriously high-waisted ’70s plaid pants. But as we take it in, we realize the pants are the best part of this look. In fact, it’s the pant/shoe combo that really caused us to come around on this look and we think the hem could be raised half and inch or so just to show those cute sandals off.
If there’s anything that doesn’t work here it’s the top. We don’t love the color all that much and the tucked-in tightness of it doesn’t really do much for those fabulous pants. Honestly, it might seem a cliche or unimaginative, but a simple white blouse or oxford would’ve been perfect here; possibly a lightweight, loose sweater too. Anything but this mud-colored leotard-looking thing.
