“The Handmaid’s Tale” Star Alexis Bledel Visits the Boho Prairie at the 2018 Peabody Awards

This is … asking a lot of the world, Alexis.

On the one hand, a sort of boho-prairie dress mashup would seem like the perfect idea for her. She’s got the kind of looks that practically beg for twee styles, but the kind of low-key personality that probably marries well with something colorful and expressive. On paper, a dress like this is a great idea for her. In reality, this dress is pretty silly-looking. The competing prints are way too similar in scale and color to make an effective juxtaposition and the candy-beaded bodice is downright ugly. There’s a germ of a good idea for a style direction, because we tend to think she’s in need of one, but this particular iteration of … Naive Boho, we’ll call it, just isn’t a great design.
