Style File: Yara Shahidi Wanders All Over the Style Map

Like the true fashionista she is, Miss Yara has a way with mixing up her looks. She can go from cray to classic without breaking a sweat.

First, the cray:

Miss Girl, we cannot. While we’re usually pretty supportive of your particularly fresh take on cray, the fact remains that you look like you’re being attacked by fabric mollusks of some sort. And the weird thing is … that’s the only weird thing about this dress. It’s so standard otherwise, with one completely over-the-top design element that throws the whole look off.

Fortunately, she got a chance for redemption and took the opportunity to relax into a casual classic look:

Just about perfect. We don’t love the shoes. They’re a bit over-designed and focus-pulling, although we support the idea of finishing such a low-key look off with something that has a little pop to it. These just have a tiny bit too much of it. Given the colors, shape, and style of them, it’s hard to lift your eye off the floor to notice the rest of her.
