Slowly but surely, shaking off the heady haze of Black Panther, the Marvel/Disney publicity machine is lurching back into gear for the release of Avengers: Infinity War later this month. We’re still on the B team, but we expect the A team will start making appearances by next week.
Now, let’s see how those Disney dollars handled the style matter, shall we?
This is somewhat surprisingly chic, if a little too businesslike in tone. She looks fantastic in it, but given the venue and the three gentlemen she’d be sharing the stage with, it seems just a bit out of synch. Then again, she’s on a world stage, which isn’t something she gets to do often in her career, so we can’t blame her for making sure she makes a good impression. She looks pretty, though. That neckline doesn’t work for everyone, but it looks pretty great on her.
We’re liking shaggy, professorial, long-haired Hiddles the best out of all the Hiddleses we’ve encountered over the years. Let’s face it: he unveils new personae with the regularity of a pop star.
And while you can’t do shaggy and impeccable at the same time, we think there are better style options for this latest, looser sort of Hiddles than a bland business suit. He and Pom look like they’re chaperoning the other two.
Why Cumberbatch. We didn’t know you had it in you. This is pretty perfect casual chic. We know some will say he shouldn’t be wearing sneakers at a press conference, but considering what he’s promoting, we don’t think it’s out of line at all. And besides, they really make the look, in concert with that fabulous jacket. Also – and we noted this when he was poledancing for Doctor Strange – he’s sporting the Disney Facial. His face looks great. His grooming never looked this good – and he’s a fairly well-groomed man on the regular.
A-freaking-dorable. They seemed to have had a tough time figuring out how to style him for his solo movie tour, inexplicably choosing to put him in a lot of suits, when that’s clearly not his style sweet spot at the moment. Most actors in their early twenties would not want to be dressed in such a juvenile manner, but first, he looks great in it, and second, it behooves him to keep maintaining a teenage look and profile while he’s still got at least five more years and three more films of playing this character. We just wish it had a little color or contrast to offer.
