Translating the Trends for Spring 2018: A Whiff of Lavender

Posted on March 01, 2018

Darlings! Don’t you feel like it’s time to go shopping once again? The doldrums of winter are eventually going to end. Promise! And right now, shopping for ways to freshen up your spring wardrobe and remain the trendy, chic gal we know you are, just makes good common sense. It’s self care, really.

As he’s done for the past several seasons, Lorenzo took a good look at what walked the spring 2018 runways and sussed out the biggest, most persistent trends. Then, armed with that information, he went shopping just for you, picking out the widest range of styles and price points, all chosen so you can remain runway-hot this season.

And one of the biggest, most persistent trends was the runway return of that springtime classic: LAVENDER.

Alberta Ferretti | Atlein | Baja East | Bottega Veneta | Chanel Couture | Creatures of Comfort | Dries Van Note
Elie Saab Couture | Emporio Armani | Erdem | Genny | Georges Chakra Couture | Giambattista Valli Couture | Giorgio Armani
Joseph | Loewe | Max Mara | Michael Kors Collection | Monique Lhuillier | Naeem Khan | Nina Ricci
Pamella Roland | Peter Pilotto | Preen | Proenza Schouler | Ralph & Russo Couture | Roberto Cavalli | Roand Mouret
Salvatore Ferragamo | The Row | Tibi | Tom Ford | Tony Ward Couture | Valentino | Victoria Beckham

That is a whole lot of purpley pastel goodness. Lavender (or lilac or light purple or periwinkle) is a springtime standard, but we’re looking for a specific dusty sort of shade to match what the fashion world is feeling at the moment. Of course, “lavender” is largely in the eye of the beholder, so a couple of outright purple or even pink items snuck into the mix as well. The idea here is to truly translate what the runway world says is trendy into wearable real-world options for a wide range of women and lifestyles. For instance, Lo opted to put a significant number of florals into the mix, even though the runway lavenders tend to skew toward solid pieces this season, just because we know for a lot of folks, spring really does mean florals and no, that’s not groundbreaking, but we’re not all Miranda Priestly either.

Anyway, enough explaining, let’s go see what he picked out for y’all. First up:

From blouses to pants to sweaters to coats and skirts, there’s something her for every lady looking to get her lavender on this season. Lo’s Loves: The ASOS blouses are really cute, but he literally sighs over the Altuzarra sweaters. The ELOQUII blazers are also a fave, as are pretty much any pair of the lavender pants, because lavender pants are sassy by their very nature.

Next up, for the more traditional or slightly more formal-minded lady:

Far be it for us to tell any woman where and when she can wear a dress, but if you’ve got a wedding, party, date or even a dressy brunch on your spring schedule, Lorenzo’s got you covered. The Christian Siriano is TO DIE. But the ELOQUII options are also really pretty. And the Fenty PUMA dress has a great sporty, breezy vibe. The Philip Lim and Altuzarra dresses are quietly chic and elegant.

But if you don’t want to commit to entire new outfits or bold pieces, maybe you can sneak a little whiff of lavender into your finishing pieces? Just a touch here and there. In other words, time to check out:

From adorably sparkly Betsey Johnson baubles, to sporty pastel kicks, to chic lavender sandals, to elegant violet-hued handbags, LO’S GOT YOU COVERED. Darling, there’s simply no reason you can’t be up on the latest trend, with a list like this to choose from. Lo’s feeling the Vans and Pumas, the Stella McCartney bag and Ferragamo slingbacks, the shiny Birkenstocks and the cozy turban most of all.

So, kittens. Feel like adding some lavender scent to your springtime closet?
