Darlings, it’s the LADYTUX SHOWDOWN THE WORLD HAS BEEN WAITING FOR. In this corner, we’ve got a modern, deconstructed take! In this corner, we’ve got a retro-tinged literal take! Queens, make your arguments!
Lo’s Pick: Tilda Swinton at the Metropolitan Museum of Art “Isle Of Dogs” Screening in Haider Ackermann.
Lo’s Defense: I know the turtleneck is a problem for both of us, but she really nailed this look. That jacket is EVERYTHING. I love the cut and the crackle. She’s the only person I can think of who can wear a gold metallic polka dotted jacket and make it seem serious and chic, instead of loud or tacky. Keeping everything else black was the right way to go. It’s all about that jacket and her face, making it the perfect red carpet look in some ways.
T’s Pick: Daisy Ridley at Empire Awards 2018 in Sara Battaglia.
T’s Defense: I love a good modern spin on a classic, but sometimes you’ve gotta give props when someone works an unspinned classic to perfection. For me, it’s all about the perfect fit and the smart idea to play up her retro looks with ’30s-esque hair and makeup. She looks like a chorus girl in a 1930s musical who got the chance to dance in the lead number. I can’t not love it based on that alone.
