More like “Calvin Klein by DISAppointment,” arewerite?
Oh, Miss Saoirse. How could you DO this, dear? And by that we mean make us look bad. You see, we went to great lengths to delineate your awards season red carpet choices and then took that information to make a prediction as to what you’d wear:
“Sleek in silhouette, with a softly framed and made-up face. Strong earrings. Most likely in one of the colors seen above, with metallic touches. In other words, romance-novel-cover face with sci-fi-novel-cover dress.”
Note: “one of the colors seen above” was pink, so at least you threw us that bone, but we basically got every detail of your choice wrong. We noted beforehand that she was unpredictable and doesn’t seem to have a discernible style of her own. The fact that she showed up in something we couldn’t have foreseen is not surprising, but the fact that it’s so basic and generic is really disappointing. It’s a somewhat drably fitted bridesmaid dress with a massive bow on it. Even her earring game is disappointing.
It’s easy to say this in retrospect, but this comes off like a choice from someone who knew this dress wasn’t going down in Oscar history, i.e., she wasn’t going to be photographed holding her Oscar in this one.
