IMDB sez: “A boy in New York is taken in by a wealthy Upper East Side family after his mother is killed in a bombing at the Metropolitan Museum of Art.”
But the costumes say uptight wealthy lady vs. loser layabout and his tacky girlfriend:
We don’t know a thing about the Donna Tartt novel on which the film’s based, but did we get them right? More importantly, did costume designer Kasia Walicka-Maimone?
In other news, this sure looks like a fun cast, even if the subject matter sounds pretty downbeat. Love the idea of Kidman’s brand of nervous energy butting up against Paulson’s brand of it.
Also: as tasteful as Nicole’s coat is, we honestly think Sarah’s jacket is fun and could be styled up. We’re assuming this is period costuming, because it all has a whiff of ten years ago to it.
