Natalie Portman is Not Herself, on the Set of “Vox Lux” in NYC

Posted on March 01, 2018

Natalie Portman films a scene for her new movie Vox Lux (“An unusual set of circumstances brings unexpected success to a pop star.” Director: Brady Corbet) in Downtown Manhattan.

Miss Natalie gets a little Millie Bobby Brown cosplay on:

And to our shock, she can actually work the Rocker Chick look, pretty well – although we think this costume is more than a little bit of a cliche. A moto, ripped jeans and studded boots are how Hollywood has portrayed rocker chicks for like 40 years now. We’ll reserve judgment on the film because we’re genuinely intrigued by her casting, but the costume, while fun, sure doesn’t seem very fresh or original. And what’s with the weird choker scarf?

This project seems very much in line with her current goal of not just loosening up but hardening up her image. If you read between the lines of recent interviews, the idea of her as this genteel, soft-spoken women has started to bug her a bit. Prediction: She’s going to be a major creative force when she hits forty. She’s on that trajectory; we can feel it.
