Style File: Margot Robbie Serves up Springtime Finery, in Gucci and Brock Collection, Promoting “Peter Rabbit”

Posted on February 05, 2018

Taking a break from the ’90s-inspired I Tonya Oscar poledance styles that have characterized her red carpetry for months, Miss Margot steps out in her best Easter Sunday looks to launch her bunny film. Gotta hand it to her, she knows how to work a theme.

This was all going to well until we got to that dust ruffle of a hem. The top half, with the strong shoulders and neck bow, has that vaguely ’80s-esque feel that she has a knack for wearing, but that ruffle does terrible things to the overall shape. But we might have given the dress a pass if she’d accessorized it well. Instead, she opted for going in the other direction: by accessorizing terribly. Seriously, those flats are ugly, both in shape and color.

Yep. Girlfriend’s a big-time theme dresser. We’re surprised she didn’t cosplay as Harley Quinn when she was doing the Suicide Squad promo tour. This is a bit too on-the-nose for our tastes, but she does look lovely in it. We don’t want to be grumps about the bag. It’s hard, though. Dress for your promotional needs, of course. That’s what the red carpet is for, after all. But we wrinkle our noses at style choices that seem more like costume design rather than style choices.

We reiterate: she looks lovely. The bunny bag is fabulous in its own sort of ticky-tacky way.But what the hell is going on with her right boob? Did it deploy a parachute or something?
