RED CARPET SHOWDOWN OF THE WEEK: Naomie Harris vs. Lupita Nyong’o

Posted on February 23, 2018

Let’s get the voting started now, darlings. We’ve seen the rest of the options and trust us: no one’s going to out-do these two looks in the next few hours.

Once again, we’ve made the choices incredibly difficult for you! Don’t blame us, blame the fabulous ladies who made it such a tough one!

T’s Pick: Naomie Harris at the 2018 BAFTA Awards in London in Zuhair Murad Couture.

T’s Defense: I’m sorry we didn’t give this more of a spotlight earlier in the week, because it really is quite spectacular. We can thank the Black Panther cast for bringing Afrofuturist styles to the red carpet, but Miss Naomi gets all the credit for serving up this 21stC high-fashion Nefertiti realness to us. It’s a stunner. And I LOVE that it’s all turned out with pants rather than some over-the-top gown.

Lo’s Pick: Lupita Nyong’o at the 2018 BAFTA Awards in London in Elie Saab Couture.

Lo’s Defense: It’s almost like it needs no defense, since any time Lupita steps out on a red carpet, she serves up a Moment. I love that this is still in the realm of fantasy and speaks of queens and warriors while still being perfectly fashionable and of the moment. The gold trim and unusual lines are really eye-catching. The head styling is stunning. She literally looks like some form of goddess-worship religious iconography from the neck up.

And there you have it, darlings. Two fabulous queens, serving up two regal goddess looks for you to choose from. Which queen will it be?
