Kerry Washington Doesn’t Reinvent the Wheel, in Dolce&Gabbana at the 2018 Costume Designers Guild Awards

Posted on February 21, 2018

This dress, if we’re being perfectly honest (and honey, you know we are), is kind of a cliche.

From the foundation-garment bodice to the visible panties to the overabundance and overuse of floral applique, we feel like we’ve seen a million variations on this exact dress over the last five years or so. The only truly notable thing about the design are the shoulder-flowers, which are kind of distracting and unnecessary, to be honest.

This concludes the bitter, nasty part of this post, because despite everything we just said…

We think she looks lovely in it. We still don’t like the design all that much, but the colors look amazing on her and she’s styled to perfection. Besides, the CDGAs are the time and place to go bold and bright in your style. We don’t like the dress, but we can’t hate the overall look. It just works for her.
