“Atlanta” actor Donald Glover covers the March 2018 issue of Esquire magazine photographed by David Burton.

On “Atlanta” Season 2: “I tried to do the Q-Tip take on it. After the first album, he was like, ‘I’m kicking this sophomore-slump shit in the ass.’”

More about “Atlanta” Season 2: “I know season two of ‘Atlanta’ is something because it makes me nervous.”

On race: “If people saw how I grew up, they would be triggered. Confederate flags everywhere. I had friends who were white, whose parents were very sweet to me but were also like, ‘Don’t ever date him.’”

On being a father: “Children are life’s greatest context. Parenthood really does make you something more. It asks you questions that no one is ready for, and that you’re always ready for. It’s like ayahuasca.”
