Make Way for the King: Chadwick Boseman in Givenchy at the “Black Panther” European Premiere

Posted on February 09, 2018

Okay.

We’re gonna take a second here. We got such a fashion head rush just now that we’re going to have to sit down and take this one slow.

Darlings, you know how much we rail against the plain-ass business suit on the red carpet. Actors up and down the alphabet-listed scale of importance almost all default to looking like accountants on job interviews when they promote their projects. “WHY,” we have wailed to the heavens countless times (also to you guys, who probably got sick of hearing it), “CAN’T AN ACTIN’ MAN SHOW A LITTLE STYLE, LORD?”

Well. Did we not say this Black Panther poledance was a red carpet game-changer, the way the entire cast insists on breaking out of the style mold over and over again? Case in point. Behold your king:

This is simply amazing. The boldness of the choices and the razor-sharp chicness of the designs make this one of the best menswear red carpet looks of all time. It’s a damn shame the shirt seems to be a bit small on him, because it’s the only imperfection we can see. A beautiful man being properly served by an ensemble that plays to his every strength and tells a story about who he is/what he’s selling. A near-flawlessly executed game-changer.
