Catherine Duchess of Cambridge visits the The Royal College of Obstetricians and Gynaecologists for the announcement of her Patronage of the Royal College and the Nursing Now 2020 campaign. She is the second patron of the Royal College; the first being Queen Elizabeth the Queen Mother, who died in 2002.
It’s entirely possible we’re reading too much into it, especially since she’s not all that deep a message-sender when it comes to her public style choices, but our impression of this look is that it’s a smartly rendered ensemble that has a vaguely uniform-like feel to it. It’s not quite military in nature; not quite medical (think scrubs and lab coats) in nature, but somewhere in between the two. It’s nothing new to see her in head-to-toe blue, nor is it odd to see her in a matching coat and dress, but the lightness of the pieces and the boldly contrasting trim make for a great look for pictures and for this occasion in particular.
Mrs. Cathy, no one would judge you if you opted for lower heels – or even flats – at this time. Actually, that’s not true, because people judge everything you do, but fuck ’em.
