It was another night of black fashion excellence on the red carpet, something that the world needs far more of, as the cast and supporters of Black Panther stepped out in style one more time. We’re starting to get a little spoiled here. This cast keeps collectively switching their style depending on the setting, so this time, everyone’s done up in chic high-fashion looks suitable for New York Fashion Week.
In other words, the Black Panther cast has been code-switching through fashion.
LOVE. We like his casual style and enjoyed the way he’s been switching things up this week, but there’s no doubt that his red carpet style offers some of the best celebrity menswear looks we’ve ever seen.
Danai Gurira in Sies Marjan
We’re not crazy about how the skirt ends, but the top half is stunning. That’s one hell of a tough color and finish to pull off, but she’s making it look effortless. She’s also working a waist design most gals would run screaming from.
What do we think of her tone-on-tone accessorizing? It took us a minute, but we’re coming around on it. Black accessories would’ve been terrible.
Please make your offering and supplications quickly so the people in the back of the line can get a chance.
LUV HUH. 2 Dope Queens is a riot. Also LUV HUH hair and makeup here. Unfortunately, this ends the list of things we love in the above picture.
This is a perfect representation of what any random collection of stylists and Instagram influencers wears while milling about waiting to get into any of the NYFW shows. It’s bright, colorful, trendy, new, and takes a great picture. Can’t say we’re in love with the skirt, but that jacket is a killa. Imagine that with jeans and a coordinating pair of thigh-high boots.
Lupita Nyong’o in Dolce&Gabbana
Miss Lupita toned down the edgy fashion, bold colors and interesting shapes. We might have found that a little disappointing except she offered something else in their stead: drop-dead sexy. She doesn’t usually do the body-con look, but she really should do it more often. We love how the makeup is toned down, giving her a head-to-toe brown glow. She’s serving skin and body. And of course, she’s doing it in a way that’s stylish and even elegant.
She also doesn’t do the big-earring thing too often, which we always took as her way of avoiding style cliches, but this pair really caps off the look and bumps the glam up.
Michael B. Jordan
Hey, Boo. Hey.
Never change, Miss Girl. Of course, that’s a silly thing for us to say, because you CLEARLY have no intention to do so.
