2018 BAFTA Awards Nominees Party Red Carpet Rundown

Posted on February 21, 2018

Darlings, we STILL have BAFTAs red carpetry to purge from our backlog. Turns out, the Brits love to extend their awards shows throughout an entire weekend as much as the Americans do. Fine by us. More celebrity fashion to judge.

Allison Janney in August Getty Atelier

We want to like it, but come on. It’s a bathrobe.

Annette Bening

It never quite comes together for her on the red carpet, and yet we can’t seem to work up too much criticism. She is who she is and she dresses accordingly. We’d have told her to lose the blouse and footwear for better options.

Anya Taylor-Joy in Dolce&Gabbana

Seen it all way too many times before, the ballerina motif is dated and played out, and the shoes, which are the best part, simply don’t go.

Daniel Kaluuya in Dolce&Gabbana

He’s very consistently old-school in his style – all black suits and solid, low-key ties with white shirts. It’s very Sidney Poitier in a way, although we wish he’d mix it up a bit more.

Jameela Jamil in Roland Mouret

Unforch, we don’t really love the outfit. It’s okay, just not all that great.

Karen Gillan in Temperley London

Another one that’s just okay, although this time we can point to the parts that bug us: the neckline and everything below her hips.

Kate Mara (in Valentino) and Jamie Bell

He looks hot in an FBI Agent kind of way. Her dress is silly.

Natalie Dormer in Sandra Mansour

GURL. TAKE THIS MUMSY-ASS THING OUT BACK AND BURN IT. You are way too fierce to be stepping out in Helen Mirren’s castoffs.

Nicholas Hoult

Probably too casual, but undeniably hot. It’s a great look. He’d be more appropriate with a collared shirt, though.

Octavia Spencer

Cute enough, but we feel like she’s defaulting to the same dress over and over again lately.

Salma Hayek in Gucci

Mrs. Fashion steps out in another not-disaster! We don’t love the puffy sleeves or the wig, but the rest of it’s fine.

Timothée Chalamet

Once again, we’d say he’s earned the smug expression. He really does have great style, which means, in this case, the ability to make something as simple as this look dead-chic.
