We were kind of mean to Miss Rita yesterday, falling back on the common and familiar (but not entirely inaccurate) critique that her red carpet style consists of Famous Lady Cosplay. We wouldn’t necessarily classify either of the following looks as wildly original, but they’re bold, fun and colorful. She’s better at this sort of high-end, sidewalk-sashay “street” style.
Rita Ora in Rochas
That isn’t to say we think this is all that chic. It’s just bold and photogenic, which is all it has to be for her. Personally, we think there are way too many competing oranges and that the coat would be better in white and the turtleneck in pink.
Rita Ora in Dolce&Gabbana
This, we love. No quibbles. It’s all just right, down to the shoes matching the buttons. Like we said, she’s not re-inventing the wheel, nor are these looks what we’d call chic, but they take great pictures, she looks great in them, and more importantly, she doesn’t look like she’s ripping off anyone else’s personal style.
