Style File: Allison Williams Makes the Rounds at the Producers Guild Awards and the SAG Awards

Posted on January 22, 2018

Continuing our Alison/Allison streak for the day…

We’re going to give Miss Allison some credit here. We’ve always bemoaned the fact that she tended to dress like the bored New York socialite she managed to avoid becoming. Nothing wrong with a little understated preppy elegance now and then, but there’s a huge difference between walking a red carpet to promote your acting projects and career, and walking a red carpet because you wrote MOMA a huge donor check. With the success of Get Out (and Girls receding further and further in the rearview mirror), she’s evolved her style a bit to become more adventurous in her choices. That doesn’t mean we love the choices she made, but she gets major points from us for getting out of her comfort zone and taking some risks.

In other, shallower news, we think she looks better as a blonde, which is not the sort of thing we tend to say. She looks a little harsh in the pics below, but that could be less about hair color and more about the makeup job, which could also use some finessing.

It totally loses us at the bottom, with the width and length of the pants revealed. Had they been fitted a bit more, we might have loved this. Also: a leather jumpsuit probably calls for something a little more kickass than your funeral pumps.

Yeah, no. It’s striking, and Lorenzo rallied to its defense, but we both wound up agreeing that, if we absolutely had to like a dress with fringe (which is not at all a sure thing from us, considering our distaste for it), then at least make it an actual gown and now some half-skirt with long strands of fabric spaghetti hanging off it. In addition, the non-color really isn’t to her benefit. Love the bodice, but it needed to be attached to a different skirt. And what is going on with her hair?
