Darlings, lest you think we’ve kicked off the New Year by being indecisive, please allow us to start off by disabusing you of that entirely reasonable notion. We, in fact, LOVE this look on Miss Mary J.:
It’s pure Dynasty redux, which is a thing we’ve been predicting as the next trend since around this time last year. But we don’t merely love this because we got it right as a prediction (honestly, anyone could’ve seen this trend coming post-2016 presidential election). No, we love it because it’s so right for Mary and looks so great on her. Yes, it’s beaded, toothpaste colored lace with puffy shoulders. And yes, we consider her one of the very few on the planet who can make a dress like this one really sing.
No, kittens. We are unabashed in our praise for this one. We’re merely throwing it out for a vote to test the winds, so to speak. Is this kind of Alexis Carrington drag going to fly in 2018? Is Miss Mary one of the only ones who can make it work? Is she making it work? In other words…
Mary J. Blige’s Dynasty Drag:
IN or OUT?
Admittedly, we’re working pretty hard to ignore the lining situation. Come on, Elie Saab folks. Give a lady the lining she deserves.
