Grammys 2018 Style File: Chrissy Teigen and John Legend Make the Rounds, Sticking to What Works

Posted on January 30, 2018

While neither of them are exactly lacking in attention and wanting for more accolades in their lives, we do think they don’t get enough credit for how consistently rendered their style is. He is almost always impeccably suited and classically chic. She tends to go for body-focused high glam looks with some fussiness to them. Notice how each of her dresses could be described using a lot of the same words: silver, body, fussy, sleeves, drape – and yet no one would confuse one dress for the other.

Personally, we find this all a bit too diaphanous and fussy to truly love it, but she’s to be lauded for having such a consistently glam/high fashion maternity wardrobe. No one would blame her for spending this time in sweats and t-shirts 24/7, but she knows what her job is and she didn’t get this far by shirking her duties. Showing up at an industry party looking hot and fabulous is just another Saturday night for her.

His tie looks weird; like it just tasted a lemon or something.

Again: Bringing high glam and earth mother realness together in a very Chrissy-specific way. We don’t like the drape on the hips, the sleeves, or the hem length, which would normally lead one to believe we hate the dress in toto, but there’s an overall effect that outweighs some of the dicier elements. Honestly, if the hem went to the floor, we’d probably be screaming at her to WERQ it.
