Loath as we are to admit it, this really was the most consistently chic and stylish Golden Globes red carpet of all time. If you give people a restriction, you give the more reason and opportunity to think about what they’re wearing and consider how to make it work. Plus, given the serious reasons for the dress code request, quite a few of the attendees opted for elegance over attention-seeking glam or over-the-top exuberance. Not that anyone failed to show up looking like a star (to our relief). In fact, Miss Saiorse’s a perfect example of someone who benefited from the dress code:
She doesn’t always have the best red carpet instincts. In fact, a lot of her more recent stuff has been fairly awful. But this is a true head-turner of a look; not because it’s cray or trendy or over-the-top, but because it’s chic and sleek, with just the right amount of glitter to it. Like so many of the women on the red carpet last night, she took great advantage of the kind of free jewelry available to her and made dramatic choices that support the dress and bump up the formality and glamour. Excellent job all around.
