Friday Leftovers for the Week of January 7th, 2018 – Part One

Posted on January 12, 2018

Kittens, it’s been one hell of a week on the red carpet front ’round these parts. And we’re not actually done getting all our opinions established, which is, as you know, our life’s work. We’ll be back tomorrow to wrap up coverage of the Critics’ Choice Awards, but for now, we’d rather shovel all the leftovers onto the “done” pile and crack open a bottle of wine.

Hit it, also-rans-of-the-week:

Abigail Spencer

Simple and, from what we can tell, somewhat elegant. It’s not really popping off the screen, but this isn’t the week to complain about black on the red carpet.

Allison Williams in Adeam

Generic socialite-wear.

Chrissy Metz

Cute! It’s so weirdly rare to see paisley on the red carpet.

Connie Britton

The waist sits a bit high on her, but that’s a killer jumpsuit.

Emilia Clarke in Elie Saab

Carolina Herrera cosplay.

Finn Wittrock

Dull.

Gillian Anderson in Victoria Beckham

The dress is sharp (as to be expected from Vicki Posh), but we’re still not sure about the head styling lately.

Helen Mirren in Prabal Gurung

Lovely.

Jessica Chastain in Ralph Lauren

Red dresses and “nude” shoes feel like a throwback to several years ago, but this is the third time we’ve seen one this week.

Jon Hamm

It’s okay. We’ve seen him do better.

Justin Hartley

A bit too businesslike for our tastes, but he’s fairly bland in his style preferences.

Liam Neeson and Vera Farmiga

Liam seriously needs to pull back on the head-dyeing. Other than that, we can’t say anything because we can’t see anything.

Lotte Verbeek in Noe Bernacelli

Y’know, considering it’s neon-yellow lace, this looks surprisingly not-awful.

Mena Suvari

DISCO LIZA!

We approve, of course.

Patrick Wilson

Hey, boo. You look like you been working out.

Sarah Jessica Parker

We’re so used to her dressing a little nutty that it always takes us a minute to recognize when she’s wearing something well put-together. The shoes are a bit off, but the rest of it looks great.

Sonequa Martin-Green in Elisabetta Franchi

It’s a shame it’s a crop top, because the rest of it is gorgeous on her.

Sonequa Martin-Green in Elisabetta Franchi

This is pretty, but the sheer bodice is a bit annoying and we think pumps would have made a better shoe choice.

More to come in part two, dolls – and then we’re outta here! Until tomorrow.
