With the release of the Golden Globes nominations, this film is officially moved to the “Awards Buzz”
column. Miss Zendaya, perhaps sensing the inevitable (or at least banking on it), chose herself a look that perfectly straddles the line between the film’s prestige aspirations and circus aesthetic.
In other words, it’s an Oscars-worthy gown with just a hint of the Big Top to it. And brava to her and her team for making that pick. It’s sophisticated with just a hint of whimsy to it. The hair, on the other hand, strikes us as a bit too sober for the look. Still, it’s not enough to make us cranky about it. This is elegant and fun at the same time.
We noted in the most recent podcast that awards season red carpetry was trending away from big glamour or princess gowns this year, due to a ton of semi-obvious reasons. Trust Miss Z to say to hell to all of that.
